Lesson 1: Matching Coupons to Store Sales
The first step in becoming a extreme couponer is to match your coupons with store sales. One way this can be done is by looking at a stores sales ad and search for the coupons you need on my Coupon Database. You do this by finding a product that you want and searching for it where it says description on the coupon database. After searching for an item if there is a coupon it will tell you how much the coupon is for, and where you can find the coupon.
If you don't want to spend a lot of time matching coupons, then check out my coupon matchups. I will be posting coupon matchups for stores sales each week. My coupon matchups will show you the best deals at that store for the week, and it will show you what coupons to use. My coupon matchups will also tell you what insert the coupon is in, or if it's a printable coupon it will give you the link where you can print it.
Example of Coupon Matchup:
Purex $1.99
-$1/1 Purex Laundry Detergent 5/1 RP
= $.98
The First line that says "Purex $1.99" shows the sales price of the product .
The Second line that says "$1/1 Purex Laundry Detergent 5/1 RP" tells you that there is a $1.00 off one Purex Laundry Detergent in the 5/1 RedPlum coupon insert.
The third line that says " = $.98" tells you how much the item will cost with the sales price and coupon.
(the matchup doesn't include sales tax)

Lesson 4: Learning Store Coupon Policies
When learning to coupon it is very important to be familiar with stores coupon policies. A lot of times cashiers and managers are not familiar with their stores coupon policy. It is a good idea to print a coupon policy for each store you shop at with coupons. I have a section for my coupon policies in my coupon wallet.
After you start couponing I can almost guarantee that you will eventually run into a problem with a cashier. Always stand your ground when couponing. When this happens politely point out that in the stores coupon policy what your doing is allowed by the store. If the cashier still won't except your coupon, ask politely to speak to a manager.
When the manager comes, point out what your are trying to do in the stores coupon policy. Most of the time a manager will take your coupon once you point it out in the stores coupon policy. Sometimes even the managers won't budge on coupons. If this happens, go to the stores website and get the number to their corporate office. Then, call and explain the situation and if you are right they will address the store.
If you do end up having a problem like this, don't let it discourage you. Keep your head high and just think about how much money your saving your family.

Frugal Microwave Baked Potatoes
Being a stay at home mom of two toddlers I'm always looking for way's to get things done fast. About every time I go to the grocery store I see people buying those microwaveable baked potatoes. Cooking a baked potato in a microwave is convenient but these potatoes usually cost over a dollar each. So I decided to experiment with Ziploc bags and it worked!
Directions:
Frugal Microwave Baked Potato
What you need:
- Potatoes
- Ziploc bags (Grocery Bags will work too)
Directions:
- Wash the potatoes. After you rinse them don't dry them.
- Put each potato in its own Ziploc bag. Then seal it. (If using a grocery bag tie the bag in a knot a few inches above the potato)
- Poke a small hole in the bag.
- Put potato in microwave. You can put more than one potato in the microwave. I usually can fit 4 large potatoes in my smaller size microwave.
- Cook potatoes until tender.
